Things to do around Ruoms

Between two hikes, southern Ardèche is best enjoyed by canoe, by glass and underground — all within 30 minutes of the villas.

  • Canoeing the Ardèche Gorges — paddle under the Pont d’Arc arch; 8 km family run (from age 7) or the full 32 km over two days.
  • Wine tasting in Ruoms — Néovinum, showcase of the Ardèche winegrowers, is right in the village; vineyard cellars all around (Côtes du Vivarais, IGP Ardèche).
  • Markets & local produce — Ruoms market on Friday mornings: AOP chestnuts, picodon goat cheese, honey, olives.
  • Show caves — Chauvet 2 (replica of the 36,000-year-old painted cave), Aven d’Orgnac, Grotte de la Madeleine: a cool 14 °C on hot days.
  • Ruoms itself — medieval ramparts, river beach, café terraces and the Aluna music festival in June.
